There’s a quiet yet powerful movement unfolding. More and more women are drawn to the archetype of the witch—not as the frightening character from old fairy tales, but as a potent symbol of wisdom, independence, and connection to both nature and the inner world. Why is this archetype resonating so deeply right now? And why are so many women embracing their inner witch?
The Witch Archetype: A Forgotten Source of Power
Throughout history, the witch has been burdened with fear and negative connotations. She was seen as dangerous, different, threatening. But what if we look beyond that image? Originally, the witch represented the wise woman—the one who understood nature’s cycles, possessed knowledge of herbs, could heal, and deeply trusted her intuition. She was a keeper of ancient wisdom, bridging the visible and invisible worlds.
Today, many women hear that call again. As if something ancient is awakening within us. Memories, perhaps from past lives, where we embodied this power before. Or simply a deep recognition: this is who I am.
Why Now? The Spirit of the Times and the Feminine Awakening
We are living in times where the old structures are crumbling, and the new ones are yet to fully emerge. Many of us feel the world crying out for balance. And that call asks us to restore feminine energy—the energy of connection, intuition, care, and also fierce boundary-setting.
The witch embodies this perfectly: the feminine force that refuses to be silenced, speaks her truth, and walks her own path. In a society that has long praised logic and achievement above all, many women are yearning to return to their core. To live in alignment with their natural rhythms, creative power, and inner knowing.
Witchcraft as a Path to Yourself
Embracing the witch archetype doesn’t mean you have to dance under the full moon with a broomstick (though you certainly can!). It’s about acknowledging your inner wisdom. It’s an invitation to take your intuition seriously, create supportive rituals, and rediscover your personal magic. This can be as simple as spending more time in nature, working with herbs, honoring your cycle, or meditating.
Many women find strength in setting intentions, practicing moon rituals, or using oracle cards—not as gimmicks but as tools to connect more deeply with themselves and the world around them. Being a witch, at its core, means living in alignment with your true self—free from judgment and rooted in trust of your inner voice.
Collective Healing of the “Burned Witch”
There is a deep wound in the feminine collective: the memory of times when powerful women were suppressed, marginalized, or even persecuted. Many women carry an unconscious fear of being “too much,” of speaking their truth, or of shining their light. The witch archetype offers a path to healing this collective pain.
By embracing our inner witch, we affirm: I am allowed to be here. With all my strength, wisdom, and vulnerability. It’s an act of love for ourselves and for the generations of women who couldn’t claim that right. And in doing so, we pave the way for those who come after us.
Sisterhood and the New Witch
One remarkable aspect of this rediscovery is the search for connection with other women. In circles, retreats, and online communities, women come together to share stories, experience rituals, and revive ancient knowledge. The old image of the witch as a solitary figure is being replaced by sisterhood—a supportive space where we lift each other up instead of competing.
This movement is more than a trend. It’s a remembrance. A return to something that has always lived within us. And maybe you hear that call too—that inner whisper saying: There is more. You are more.
Dare to follow her voice.

Exercise: Meet Your Inner Witch
This exercise will help you connect with the witch archetype within yourself. Take your time and create a peaceful, undisturbed space. Lighting a candle or using a calming scent can enhance the atmosphere.
Step 1: Create Your Space
- Find a quiet place where you feel comfortable.
- Light a candle and place a crystal, flower, or personal item nearby.
- Sit or lie down in a relaxed position. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Feel your body and release any tension.
Step 2: Ground and Protect Yourself
- Visualize roots growing from your feet deep into the earth. Feel yourself being held and supported.
- Imagine a soft, protective circle of light surrounding you. This is your safe space.
Step 3: The Encounter
- Picture yourself walking through a forest. Feel the earth beneath your feet, smell the scents, and hear the sounds around you.
- In the distance, you see a fire burning. A woman sits beside it—your inner witch. Notice her appearance and feel her energy.
- Sit quietly with her. Maybe she speaks, or maybe she simply offers her presence. Ask her questions like:
- What do you want to show me?
- What strength am I invited to embrace?
- What can I let go of to fully step into my potential?
- Listen, feel, and receive whatever comes. Even if it’s just silence, trust that something is happening on a deeper level.
Step 4: Return
- Thank the woman for her wisdom and presence.
- Slowly walk back through the forest in your mind, returning to the here and now. Gently move your body, open your eyes, and take a few deep breaths.
Step 5: Reflect
- Write down what you experienced. What images, feelings, or messages came up? What touched or surprised you?
- Ask yourself: How can I integrate this wisdom into my daily life?
This exercise can be repeated as often as you like. Each encounter may reveal new aspects of yourself and deepen your connection to your inner voice.
